A balance of choice and savings

CIGNA Dental Exclusive Provider Organization (DEPO¹) lets members visit any licensed dentist in our Preferred Provider network without requiring referrals for specialty care. Members are reimbursed for all or part of costs for covered procedures up to the annual dollar maximum after meeting deductibles or satisfying any waiting periods.

The CIGNA Dental EPO provides the flexibility of broad network access with in-network only benefits. Members will enjoy these advantages:

• No need to select a primary care dentist.
• No referral needed to seek care from a network specialist.
• No need to submit claims because participating providers will submit them for you.
• No balance billed charges, since participating dentists are not allowed to bill above the negotiated, discounted fees for covered services.
• You can enjoy savings on non-covered services. And the savings apply to covered services when you exceed your annual maximum or other plan limitations. To take advantage of these savings, you must visit a network dentist.
• Claims are paid using the negotiated provider fee schedules in place today with our DPPO plan.
• Lower out-of-pocket costs for covered services because the contracted fee schedules for this network represent an average of 35% off average area charges.²
• An ID card is not needed to access dental care.

With the DEPO plan, members will find that coverage for most preventive services is provided at no or low cost.

Finding the care you need

You can feel confident that you're getting access to quality dental care. All DEPO network dentists complete a credentialing process and participate in a Quality Management Program. We recredential each network dentist periodically and survey members to measure customer service and quality levels.

Do I have to choose a primary care dentist?
No. You don't need to select a primary care dentist and you don't need a referral to seek care from a network specialist. You can visit any participating dentist or specialist in the CIGNA Dental EPO plan.

What if my current dentist is not on your list?
That means the dentist does not participate in the network. You must select a dentist from the list of participating network dentists. Participating dentists must meet standards to become a part of the network. The plan does not cover services performed by a general dentist or specialist who does not participate in the network (emergency care or some state-specific benefits may apply).

How do I find participating dentists?
You can search for participating dentists on the online Provider Directory.
